The first is now hard to dispute. They&#8217;re facts to check. And every one of them can be answered from data you already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 id=\"h-assess-your-readiness-in-four-checks\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assess your readiness in four checks<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-1-the-range-check-can-each-vehicle-complete-its-day\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. The range check: can each vehicle complete its day?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Range anxiety is usually a fear of the unknown, but your fleet&#8217;s daily mileage can help build the picture. <a href=\"\/en-gb\/vehicle-tracking\/timesheets\/\">Trip and mileage reports<\/a> show how far each vehicle really travels on a typical day, week and month. Set those distances against the usable range of the EVs you&#8217;re considering. A van on a predictable 16-mile-a-day round is an obvious early candidate; a high-mileage motorway vehicle needs a closer look. Either way, you&#8217;re matching real distances to real range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-2-the-charging-check-where-and-when-would-they-charge\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. The charging check: where and when would they charge?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Public charging infrastructure may be widely available near your routes, but you want to know whether your vehicles can charge where they already stop. <a href=\"\/en-gb\/vehicle-tracking\/live-tracking\/\">Live tracking and location history<\/a> show where each vehicle ends its shift and how long it sits there. A vehicle that returns to the same depot or a team member&#8217;s home and stays put overnight can rely on slower, cheaper charging; one that rarely stops for long, or parks away from power, can be flagged at the planning stage. This points you to where charging needs attention rather than sizing the network for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-3-the-priority-check-which-to-vehicles-switch-first\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The priority check: which to vehicles switch first <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where fleets save the most money and it starts with a warning: don&#8217;t replace your fleet one-for-one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most expensive EV mistake is buying electric versions of vehicles you didn&#8217;t really need. Use <a href=\"\/en-gb\/blog\/fleet-utilisation-and-right-sizing\/\">utilisation data<\/a> to find the vehicles that are barely working, right-size first \u2014 cut or reallocate the under-used ones \u2014 and only then electrify what you really need. The result is a smaller, cheaper, better-matched order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your <a href=\"https:\/\/quartix.my.site.com\/en\/s\/article\/ReportingVehicleutilisationUKandUS61eec045c2a70?language=en_US\">vehicle utilisation report<\/a> makes the under-performers obvious at a glance. The cost check: will it pay off?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"\/en-gb\/blog\/fleet-utilisation-and-right-sizing\/\">Right-sizing<\/a> is also the biggest single lever in the financial case: fewer vehicles bought outweighs any running-cost difference. Getting the most from them afterwards is a separate, ongoing job. A lot of EV range is set by how a vehicle is driven and routed \u2014 the same data that we safety-scored every vehicle at the <a href=\"\/en-gb\/blog\/ev-rally-results-efficiency-safety\/\">2026 EV Rally<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"\/en-gb\/blog\/vehicle-tracking-driver-scores\/\">Safer driving<\/a> and better range pull in the same direction: a better driving style helps both. We believe safety and sustainability go hand in hand, a view we put forward at this year&#8217;s <a href=\"\/en-gb\/blog\/uk-fleet-champions-awards-2026-winners\/\">UK Fleet Champions Awards 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-smoother-driving-means-more-range\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smoother driving means more range<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harsh acceleration and heavy braking drain an EV faster than almost anything else. <a href=\"\/en-gb\/vehicle-tracking\/driver-behaviour\/\">Driver behaviour monitoring<\/a> scores acceleration and braking second by second. That not only gives a better measure of risk, but also makes it easy to spot where easing off the accelerator would stretch range, without slowing the working day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-less-wasted-energy\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Less wasted energy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An EV doesn&#8217;t idle an engine, but leaving it switched on and stationary still drains the traction battery to run heating, cooling and onboard systems. Idling reports surface that waste, and smarter routing through <a href=\"\/en-gb\/vehicle-tracking\/fleet-management-tools\/\">fleet management tools<\/a> trims unnecessary miles. The mile you never drive uses no energy at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-making-it-stick-friendly-competition-and-self-coaching\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making it stick: friendly competition and self-coaching<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Insight only changes range if the people behind the wheel act on it, which is why the scores are built to engage rather than just report.
