Quartix is excited to take part in an EvaBuild charity football tournament this August to raise funds for Lingen Davies Cancer Support, a vital local charity that has been supporting people living with and through cancer across Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales since 1979.

The tournament will take place on Saturday 9th August at Newtown AFC, with 8 local businesses taking part in a half-pitch tournament knock-out! EvaBuild, Hilltop, Quartix, Nidec Drives, Invertek, SJ Roberts, Lowfield Timber Frames and Makefast will be competing for the trophy. The event promises a day of thrilling football action, family-friendly entertainment and opportunities to support a cause close to the hearts of many in Powys.

Entry to the event is just £5, with free entry for children under 16. All proceeds from entry and a generous raffle will go directly to Lingen Davies Cancer Support, who have recently launched The Sunflower Appeal, aiming to raise £5 million to grow and improve cancer care across our region. This will be done through the creation of the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre in Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital – which will offer dedicated lung and urology cancer treatment, as well as double the capacity of chemotherapy bays available across the region.

Steph Smith, Head of Philanthropy at Lingen Davies, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event: “We are thrilled to be partnering with EvaBuild for this exciting tournament. Events like these not only raise vital funds but also bring the community together to support a cause that impacts so many lives.”

Lingen Davies Cancer Support has made significant strides in recent years, delivering just under £1,000,000 worth of equipment, services and projects to support our community in 2024. Recent initiatives include Bins for Boys, calling for public venues to add sanitary bins to male toilets and raise awareness that a lack of them is letting men down. Another impactful programme is Cancer Champions; Cancer Champions undergo training which empowers them to become advocates for cancer awareness.

“We are so proud to be supporting Lingen Davies Cancer Support and contributing to their ongoing efforts to provide exceptional care and support to cancer patients in our community,” said Lauren Evans, Director at EvaBuild. The tournament will feature a range of activities, including a raffle with some huge prizes, face-painting, an ice-cream truck and refreshments provided by Newtown AFC. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families and football enthusiasts to come together for a day of fun while supporting a worthy cause.

EvaBuild is also delighted to welcome the Mayor, Cllr Pete Lewington, who will be attending the event and presenting the winner’s trophy after the final match.
