Book a DemoSafe driving is an essential part of fleet management, and it’s vital to ensure your fleet drivers are adhering to regulations. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) organizes an annual ‘Operation Safe Driver Week’ to raise awareness and promote safe driving behaviors for passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle drivers.
During Operation Safe Driver Week, which will take place July 9th – 15th 2023, law enforcement officers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico will be monitoring roads and stopping any drivers who exhibit dangerous driving behavior to issue warnings or citations.
The aim of the CVSA initiative is to deter dangerous driving behaviors and prompt positive driving habits through officer interactions with drivers.

This year, Operation Safe Driver Week will be focused heavily on the issue of speeding – a well-known factor in causing and increasing the severity of road accidents. Other examples of unsafe driver behaviors are improper lane changes, not stopping at traffic lights, driving while under the influence or while using a handheld device, or not wearing a seat belt.
The U.S. Department of Transportation recently launched a National Roadway Safety Strategy to help reduce serious traffic accidents and its Safe System Approach encourages drivers to adopt safer speeds on all roadways.
Here are some key facts from previous Operation Safe Driver Week campaigns and tips to help you keep your fleet drivers operating at safe speeds this week and beyond.
